Reading at the Beach
Over the last couple of years I have cut way back on my paperback book purchases in favor of ebooks. But in preparation for my trip to the beach I purchased a few paperbacks. Let's face it, taking a laptop or ebook reader down to the beach near water and sand isn't practical. So, on my first day I happily read for an hour or so before taking a break. I left my book in my chair but when I returned an hour or so later I found my daughter had thrown it off the chair and the surf had come in far enough to lap at the pages. One book down!
The next day, I decided to try again but warned my daughter not to touch my book. I almost took the book with me as I returned to the beach house but my chair was a safe distance from the water and I only planned a short break. Upon returning to my chair, I discovered my book missing. Now, I've lost my second book and I'm not very happy.
Of course, I would have been more upset if my ebook reader got wet or was stolen but still it seems that reading on the beach doesn't work for me.
Instead, I managed to read a few ebooks from the comfort and safety of the deck. Thank goodness for the convenience of downloading ebooks.
Have a good one,
