Yesterday, I receive my copies of Under a Feral Moon, my newest print release. Most of my books are in ebook form and I read mostly ebooks but there is something about holding your own book in your hands. Especially, when it has a beautiful cover.
I didn't take it to bed with me but...almost.
I think being able to touch it makes it all the more real. What do you think?
Have a glorious weekend.

Today is the eighth anniversary and every year I remember what I was doing when I heard. At the time, I worked in a small office and we were all gathered in the lunch room watching what we thought was a tragic accident when we saw the second plane hit. I remember looking at a co-worker as realization that it was no accident dawned upon us.
Most people would tell you that my memory isn’t very good but my memories of that day are still very clear. The shock and horror at what will be remembered as one of the worst days in US history is still there. It is something I will never forget. It is something none of us should ever forget.

Gionne is alpha male of the Valde wolf pack. He wants Jenna, a feline shapeshifter, as his mate but the fates are manipulated to separate them before the two breeds can join.
Two years later, the felines need a favor and Gionne will help for a price — Jenna. Gionne holds Jenna as collateral for the debt. Holding an unmated female that comes into heat within the pack proves dangerous. He takes her innocence, claiming her as his mate to protect her.
Jenna gave her heart to Gionne only to have it broken. Now she must accept Gionne's terms in order to save her pack. Seeing the wolf stirs all the old feelings but Jenna refuses to submit to the alpha until he uses dominant persuasion. Just as Jenna begins to accept her feral mate, a pack member plots to get rid of her.
A malevolent force that doesn't want to see a merger between the two feral breeds works to separate them. Gionne introduces Jenna to the pleasures of a ménage in order to ensure her safety. Even with the help of another male, it proves difficult to keep Jenna safe from unreasonable prejudice.
Leon's life is good. He's alpha male of his feline pack and females are plentiful. Then he meets Riza. The lupine female fascinates him. For once, he's found a female who holds his interest above all others.
Riza is in heat and Leon is the focus of her lust. She can't resist him and surrenders her heart, but not her secret, to the dominant feline.
Leon believes he betrayed Riza. Riza knows he would have. Can she trust him enough to offer her submission before the entire pack? Only by sharing Riza with two other males can Leon prove his love and commitment to his mate and her pack.
Dirk Valde's life is in crisis. As guard of the Valde wolf pack, he has a plan for his life until a chance meeting changes everything. Discovery of one's lifemate is usually a joyous occasion, unless that lifemate makes you accept a long-denied truth. Dirk must come to terms with the realization that his lifemate is not only of the coyote pack but is also a male.
Rian's touch ignites passion within Dirk and he can no longer deny his feelings. He's willing to accept a relationship with the alpha male on the condition that they are equals in the bedroom.
Rian's former pack cannot accept that he is homosexual and he's certain the Valde wolf pack will feel the same way when they discover Dirk's secret. Dirk must survive a shattering misunderstanding and a vicious attack before he can find true acceptance within his heart and his pack.

School started here yesterday and my daughter had her first test on one of the books assigned for summer reading. I won't mention the titles but I will say the books were extremely boring and one of them was almost impossible to follow. My daughter read them because I made her but many of her friends didn't read their books. I'm wondering why can't they assign books that a teen might actually enjoy reading. Forcing students to read books that hold no appeal certainly won't teach them a love of books.
I was never assigned summer reading as a child but I read for the love of it. Very few, if any of my daughter's friends read for fun. If schools made better selections on assigned reading, I wondering would that change?
Have a wonderful weekend!

Over the last couple of years I have cut way back on my paperback book purchases in favor of ebooks. But in preparation for my trip to the beach I purchased a few paperbacks. Let's face it, taking a laptop or ebook reader down to the beach near water and sand isn't practical. So, on my first day I happily read for an hour or so before taking a break. I left my book in my chair but when I returned an hour or so later I found my daughter had thrown it off the chair and the surf had come in far enough to lap at the pages. One book down!
The next day, I decided to try again but warned my daughter not to touch my book. I almost took the book with me as I returned to the beach house but my chair was a safe distance from the water and I only planned a short break. Upon returning to my chair, I discovered my book missing. Now, I've lost my second book and I'm not very happy.
Of course, I would have been more upset if my ebook reader got wet or was stolen but still it seems that reading on the beach doesn't work for me.
Instead, I managed to read a few ebooks from the comfort and safety of the deck. Thank goodness for the convenience of downloading ebooks.
Have a good one,

Made for Me by LA Day
Releasing May 29th from Ellora’s Cave.
“Mav, I found your way in,” Rebecca said with just a little too much glee for his comfort.
First Commander Maverick Spencer rolled his chair across the tiled floor. His gaze zeroed in on Rebecca’s vid screed as it flashed an advertisement for a robotic sex site. “No thanks, Rebecca. I don’t need to buy sex. But there might be something there for you.”
“Nope. But that Marston babe you downloaded into your cyber sex unit just placed an order.”
“For what?” His gaze snapped back to the vid screen. “And I downloaded her file for research. She’s a target in our investigation.”
“Yep but you added her picture to your cyber sex unit. You can’t hide anything from a techno wiz.” Merriment gleamed in Rebecca’s eyes. “Anyway, she ordered a pleasure droid—a hi-tech robotic sex machine—and wait until you hear the description. She might have been describing you. Well, that is, if you have at least ten inches in those pants.” Rebecca raised her brows in a suggestive manner.
“I think I can cover that,” Mav grumbled, his eyes scanning the banner ad.
“Excuse me.” Rebecca waved her hand in his direction. “I need to open this drawer.” Mav rolled backward to allow her to rummage through his stash of odds and ends.
“What are you looking for?”
“A tape measure. I had better verify the length. We wouldn’t want to disappoint her.”
“If you think I’m whipping it out for you—think again. I never disappoint.” He scooted closer, reading the digital data. “I’m still not sure how this pleasure droid info is going to help us.”

It's Oaks Day here in Kentucky. That is the day before the Derby. I don't know how many of you are horse racing fans but it's a great time of year here. Last weekend we had Thunder Over Louisville, which is an airshow and fireworks...awesome to see. During the week there are balloon races, steamboat races, parades and so forth. If you ever want to visit Louisville this is the time of year to do it.
Unfortunately, we've been having a bit of rain but the show goes on regardless. I'm not going to the track this year but I will attend a party and put a few dollars on the horses. Wish me luck.

Lately, life has seems full of disappointments. We went to my favorite Chinese restaurant the other day. I’ve been going to this place since I was a teenager…that’s a long time. I have told so many people about this place because they have the most awesome fried rice. Everyone that I referred there has agreed. They are the best…or they used to be. They changed the recipe or something because the rice was okay but nothing special. I asked a couple friends that had been there lately and they agreed. WTF! Why do you change something that is perfect?
Then, I bought a book by one of my favorite authors. I won’t say who but I love this author. Guess what the book was okay but not nearly as good as most of the books by this author. I’ll still buy the next book by this author though. We all have books that are better than others. I know I do. I was just surprised because this author had never disappointed me before.
So, I thought to cheer myself up I’d take a trip to my favorite store. It sells clothes for larger women that I like. Yeah! You guessed it. They didn’t have hardly anything I liked.
Now, I’m wondering is it me???
The one thing that hasn’t disappointed me lately though is my amazingly supportive family and friends. And, if you have that what else do you need.
Hope everyone has a great weekend with few disappointments.

I was just notified by Ellora's Cave that my three books in the Faldron Shifters series, Feral Domination, Feral Lust and Feral Intensity will be combined into one print book this summer. I don't have a title or release date for the print book but I will let you know when I do.

Definition of obsession: An obsession is an unwelcome, uncontrollable, and persistent idea, thought, image, or emotion that a person cannot help thinking even though it creates significant distress or anxiety.
Lately, I've had alot going on in my real world and I have become obsessed with one aspect of my life. The problem is that the obsession doesn't change anything and I am accomplishing nothing.
Sitting here, I am thinking back over the last month or so and I realize I have been spinning my wheels so to speak. I've let something beyond my control take over my life. I haven't written much, chatted, updated sites, blogged or accomplished any of my usual tasks.
I've decided to do my best not to worry about what I can't control and concentrate on what I can do. Sounds easy...not!
Has anyone else become obsessed with something in their life, a story line or research?

Lately it seems I’ve been on an unwanted break from my writing career but I am pleased to announce I just signed a new contract. Made for Me, an erotic sci-fi story will release from Ellora’s Cave. Release date yet to be determined. The sequel, Made to Order is almost finished.
The Hunters for Hire bible will soon be available at Ellora’s Cave as a free read. If you read my book Savage or any of the other Hunters for Hire stories or if you have an interest in sci-fi you should check it out. This is a huge book we’ve put together with all worlds, species, environments and so forth that we created. It’s pretty cool and will give you some insight into the stories.

Next Saturday I’ve been asked to give a presentation at my local RWA chapter on writing love scenes. Those of you that know me know I’m an introvert and hate public speaking but I agreed to do it anyway.
From reading blogs and assorted articles I know that writing love scenes is the worst nightmare of many writers. However, I don’t feel that way. I enjoy writing love/sex scenes. I probably enjoy writing them more than most scenes if you’ve read any of my work you probably guessed that. LOL
Now, I’m wondering what you all think. Do you enjoy writing love scenes? If not why?
Any information you can provide will help me with delivering an effective and helpful presentation.
Just a reminder, my Giveaway is still going on.
From now until February 28, 2009 buy any L.A. Day ebook from Ellora’s Cave or Cobblestone Press for a chance to win a new Sony PRS 505 ebook reader or signed copies of Warriors in Time. Complete details are on the fun/free page of my site.

Prey by L.A. Day
Releasing February 13th from Ellora’s Cave.
Ex-prostitute and newbie vampire Amber isn’t thrilled to discover her future is reminiscent of her past. She thought she’d put her past behind her, but when her sire teaches her to feed her immortal needs, she once again preys on men to survive.
Marcus has lived alone for many lifetimes. He is an instructor to newly turned vampires and Amber is his latest pupil. He has had many lovers but she ignites a fire in his blood. Amber tries to resist Marcus’ allure. She’s taken enough instructions while lying down. This time, she’ll learn on her feet because submitting to this dominant male could be addictive.
Marcus is ancient, powerful, unmated—a threat to his kind. His very existence is in peril. He has one last chance. Find his mate and bind her to him.
Amber shifted in her seat. “What did you see when you read my mind?”
“I saw your death.” His gaze locked onto hers.
“I saw images of us.”
“U-us?” she stuttered as she remembered some of the images he might have seen.
“You fantasized about having sex with me.”
Her cheeks flushed and her stomach clenched. “I didn’t.”
He cocked a brow. “And you fantasized about me turning you over my knee.” His palm stroked the length of his thigh.
Oh my god! Did he have to pick her most wicked thoughts out of her head?
Moving quickly, he scooped her from the chair and sat down with her across his lap.
“What are you doing?”
“Fulfilling your fantasy…and mine.”
“What? Hell no.” She arched her back and kicked out, trying to break free.
“You need your arse whipped for what you did earlier and since I know you’ll enjoy it.”
“No. Don’t.” She’d fantasized about him tanning her ass but she couldn’t allow it. She couldn’t allow him to feed her secret desires.
“Too late.” His grip was much too strong. It was useless to fight as he held her easily across his lap. “Go ahead and fight. It will up the energy flow.”
“Pervert. Is this how you get your kicks?” she hissed, feeling the growing erection pressed against her hip.
He chuckled as he pinned her legs between his. Her belly lay across his thighs and he held her down with a hand to her back. His free hand slid along her bare upper thighs causing a shiver to race up her spine.
“I’m not the only one who fancies this.” Material ripped as he tore the mini-skirt out of his way. He let out a harsh breath and it fluttered across her naked cheeks.
“That was Lena’s skirt,” she admonished.
His hand cupped one cheek. “She has many more.” His fingers wrapped in the wisp of material that comprised her thong. He tugged and twisted the material, dragging it across her sensitized clit.
Her breath drew in sharply at the powerful sensation. “Don’t.” She glared over her shoulder at him.
“Fine. I will attend to other business.”
Her breath hitched in her throat at the first stinging swat to her ass. Gritting her teeth, she refused to utter a sound as he applied four more slaps to her bottom. Each slap sent a ripple of sexual energy through her body. By the fifth slap, her thighs clenched together. Amber sighed when he stopped, until he tugged on the thong again.

Sin of the Past @ Cobblestone Press
“Smoking hot! Right from the beginning your interest is peaked by the conversation Sara has with her friend before she heads out of town. The reaction Sara has to seeing Cein again after so many years had me on the edge of my seat and my anticipation level high.” Overall rating:

Set in Stone @ Ellora’s Cave
“Right off the bat, the reader is given an interesting paranormal twist to sink their teeth into. Sarah and Jacob have an underlying passion for each other that lies just below the surface waiting to be unleashed. I enjoy reading something out of the ordinary, and Set in Stone was exactly that.” Reviewed by: Dawnie @ FAR
Greek Temptation @ Ellora’s Cave
“In the paranormal genre, there is nothing I love to read more than an alpha shape shifter – especially one as devastatingly handsome and dominant as Lyk.” Reviewed by Talia Ricci @ Joyfully Reviewed
Between my surgery, complications, hormones & power outages it seems the fates have conspired against me in recent months. However, yesterday for the first time in several months, I submitted a manuscript to Ellora’s Cave and I almost have the sequel to it completed as well.
I’ve always heard of writer’s block but this is the first time I’ve experienced it for any length of time. It’s not something I want to experience again…ever. Although, I do realize I most likely will. Hopefully, I’ll have long stretches of productivity between the slumps.
In the past, if I wasn’t in the mood to write, I’d pick up a good book and read. That usually did the trick. Didn’t work this time though but I did get to read a few good books. I won’t complain about that.
During my slump, I started and stopped several manuscripts as I attempted to find inspiration. Now, I have seven partially completed manuscripts and my slump appears to be over. Keeping my fingers crossed.
So any writer’s block stories out there? How long did it last and what did you do to get the creative juices flowing again?
Have an awesome weekend!

I'm thrilled to say that my power is back on. However, I'm now buried in emails and other things I haven't been able to get to. And of course, it's snowing again. Today was the first day in a week that we've had school here and they'll probably release early if it doesn't stop snowing. URGH!!!

“L.A. Day has some sexy Greek werewolves in Greek Temptation. All my favorite components of a book in one place! Hot Greek men, sexy man-love and top it all off wolves!” reviewed by Tina @ TwoLips Reviews
It’s a heat wave!
It’s funny how much the weather plays a role in my mood. We’ve been experiencing bitter cold, snow and cloudy skies. I’ve been depressed and unproductive. However, yesterday was beautiful and today it’s going to reach fifty-two degrees and I’ve already been out with the dogs, cleaned up the yard and been to the store. Now, I’m settling into my seat in front of the computer and I feel productive for the first time in a while.
Unfortunately, tomorrow the temperature starts to drop again but I will enjoy today. I plan to take a break this afternoon to walk the dogs again and tonight I’m going out with my DH. I think we are going to see Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood. I love Clint. He would warm me up even on the most frigid night.
So, how does the weather affect your life?
Do you crave sunny skies and warm temps like me?
Whatever the weather, enjoy your weekend.

It’s unbelievably cold here today. This morning it was minus 2 and we’re expecting a high of 13. WooHoo!! That is extremely cold for my neck of the woods. It’s great weather to stay inside and read a hot book though or maybe to write one too.
Currently, I’m working on the sequel to Undercover Pleasure Droid and it’s keeping me warm. I also purchased a few new books that I intend to read if I meet my writing quota for the day. Next on my list to read is Caramel Kisses by TJ Michaels. It looks yummy.
Anyone have some Hot recommendations?
Enjoy your weekend. Keep safe and warm.
