Laura Adams is a cop with ambition, and a job in Middlemarch isn't what she wants for her future. Hooking up with the wrong man is responsible for the wrong turning, and she refuses to repeat the mistake, especially with a sexy thief.
Leopard shifter Jonno Campbell takes one look at Laura and desires her as his mate. He's enthralled with the fiery cop, and when she arrests him, he's ready for a strip search. Convincing Laura he's innocent and that they should work together to capture the thieves stealing from Middlemarch residents isn't easy. A kiss laced with his easy charm does the trick and sparks fly. Passion escalates into primitive hunger. A night of hot loving convinces Jonno. He wants forever with the gorgeous Laura, but her ambition, his feline heritage and a gang of thieves stand in the way of his progress. Then there's the ex-boyfriend who wants Laura back. This time charisma and erotic promises might not be enough to win the lady.

Here's Emma's question for everyone. If you could confirm the existence of one supernatural being which would it be?

Just one, huh?
I’d have to go with vampires. I’ve had a fantasy/love affair with vampire since I watched Dark Shadows as a young girl. I’m not talking about those gross disgusting vampires you see in some movies. I’m referring to the hot, sexy vampires. A few off the top of my head are Angel, Spike, Mick St. John, Edward & Emmett Cullen, The guys from The Lost Boys (Kiefer) & Interview with a Vampire (Brad Pitt & Tom Cruise).

He was outmatched and overpowered before, but nothing will keep him from claiming Serafina now—not even Serafina herself. Wild with hunger and a soul-deep longing, he declares a Bride Hunt, an ancient ritual most vampires abandoned centuries before.

Serafina endured a loveless marriage for the sake of her sisters. Now her husband’s death has freed her to think of her own happiness. Before she can decide how to flex her independence, she’s being hunted by a domineering, if utterly desirable, vampire bent on binding her soul to his. Antonio awakens sensations and ignites responses she never experienced with her husband, but is physical pleasure reason enough to spend eternity at his side?

Blurb:
The past has a way of catching up with you and sometimes you’re glad it does. Freshly divorced, Sara is skipping town and looking for adventure. However, she’s about to discover an erotic adventure with the one man she thought she’d lost forever.

Cein Creedon walked away from Sara when she chose another man over him. However, she’s free now and Cein has waited about as long as he can. It’s time he reminds her why he was nicknamed Walking Sin.

Excerpt:

Blood began to pump rapidly through her veins as she gazed at him. He looked like a man who would know how to please a woman. She looked at his large hands, with long, tapered fingers as he raised his fork to his mouth. His generously full lips parted, and his hand hesitated. She glanced up to meet his gaze across the room. Her breath caught in her throat. He had dark eyes, almost black, and they burned into her flesh.
An erotic film rolled through her mind. Stretched out naked on a bed, her body contorted in pleasure as a man feasted between her thighs. Her pussy spasmed in urgent release, and the man’s head rose. Those same black eyes gleamed at her from a face years younger.

Sara gasped as her panties dampened with familiar need. It couldn’t be, not after all these years. “Cein Creedon,” she whispered, her lips trembling.

Cein, better known as Walking Sin, back in town after all these years. Grabbing her purse, she threw a twenty on the table and ran from the restaurant. Sprinting to her car, she slammed the compact’s door and gunned the engine. She had to get away before she embarrassed herself beyond redemption. Small towns were known for gossip and ever since Mike left, she’d been hiding from the whispers of failure. She could only imagine the reaction if she spread herself on Cein’s table and asked for a repeat performance of the one unfinished night they’d shared. At that thought, her upper thigh muscles tightened, and her pussy gushed. Damn, she needed a man. A mindless fuck with an anonymous stranger ought to ease her lust. An annoying voice in her head doubted a stranger could ease the arousal Cein inspired all too easily.

Cein watched Sara run from the diner with an amused smile. She wouldn’t get very far. Standing, he stretched his legs. Sara had forgotten her package, but he wouldn’t mind delivering it. Peeling off a few bills, he dropped them on the table and collected Sara’s gift. He peeked under the glittery paper and raised a dark brow. A chuckle escaped his lips. It would be his pleasure to deliver the item. He knew exactly what he would do with it. Whistling, Cein headed for his bike. It was about time he taught Sara that the only place she could run was into his arms. The last time, he’d followed her wishes and left town. This time, she would bend to his will.

He hadn’t been able to help overhearing Sara and her friend’s conversation. If Sara was hungry for sex, he would be the man to feed her. He would teach her exactly what she had been missing all these years.

Warrior of the Past, reviewed by JERR

Rating: 4/5

Snippet:
“Ms. Day has written an amazing story of self discovery and love. Though this is a sequel, it works well as a standalone book. Bear Claw's transition from past to present is both hilarious and touching. He is everything a warrior should be...confident, stubborn and deadly.” Reviewed by T.S. Peters at JERR

Paige Tyler: Paige is a friend, a great author and the co-owner of an alpha male yahoo group with me.

Lisa Andel: Lisa is awesome and visiting her blog for Thursday Thirteen is an experience!

Shelley Munro: Love Shelley’s work. What more can I say?

Susan Helene Gottfried: Susan is unique and I love her blog.

Maddie James: A friend and a great writer I love to keep track of through her blog.

Jambrea: She doesn’t need a last name because everyone knows her.

Sunlight Sucks: I just found this blog when the owner joined my alpha male group. Another alpha male lover and a unique blog.

Gift Ideas

It’s that time of year again; time to start the dreaded Christmas shopping. I don’t have a lot of people on my shopping list. A few years back, all the brothers and sisters stopped buying for each other. So, that leaves me shopping for my dh, my daughter, 2 teenage nieces and my mil. Sounds easy, right? Wrong!

My daughter is easy. I take her shopping and I buy her gift cards because I know nothing I buy will please her. My nieces get gift cards too (they are teenage girls) I’m not crazy enough to try to please them.

I’m not sure what to get the dh this year. We agreed not to spend a lot but that doesn’t make it easier.

Then we get to my mother-in-law. I always get her some Hadley Pottery; it’s a local pottery that we both love. I usually get her a book too. Not one of mine! Last year, I got her a book on Steve Irwin. She loved it. Any recommendations? She likes biographies, true-life books, war books, the sort of book I don’t read. LOL! She doesn’t read romances or erotic romances.

Any great present ideas appreciated.

Presentation ideas

Hello,

As some of you may know, I was elected President of my local RWA chapter for 2010. I am President-Elect for 2009. The President for 2009 wants my opinion/help for her term. We are attempting to set a schedule of workshop/presentations for the year. I am also looking for ideas for my term.

We have a small group, approximately 30 members. I have already agreed to do a presentation on writing love/sex scenes. I’m also considering a presentation on character creation…creating the alpha male.

As writers, what workshops/presentations would interest you?
What about POV’s, plots, query letters, synopsis…?

We only have 3-4 published authors that attend the meetings so I’m reluctant to offer presentations on promotion/what to do after you have a contract.

I would really appreciate your ideas/thoughts on this.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Laura/LA Day

TT #56

In these tough economic times, everyone is cutting back. Below is a list of 13 things that I want to have and how I’ve made changes to keep them. I might not need all of these things but I’m not giving them up yet.

1. My house. I have cut out paying additional money toward the principal balance but I have to make my regular payment.
2. Electricity. During the recent windstorm, we lived with electricity for three days and believe me it’s no fun. However, we have cut back. We regulate the thermostat and open windows when we can. We lowered the setting on the water heater. I am more conscience of turned on lights, TVs, and etc.
3. Car/Gasoline. I need my vehicle to get around but I have cut back unnecessary trips. The prices of gasoline have dropped but there is still no need to waste gas.
4. The Internet. This is a must have for me. It is how I make a living.
5. Cable Television. This is a must have for my husband and daughter. I have a few shows I like but they are on basic cable and I could easily cut back to that. They however don’t agree. I did cut out a few movie channels.
6. Books! This may seem high on the list but for me it is a necessity. I make a living by writing (although that may be in jeopardy if the economy doesn’t turn around) and I love to read. I might not buy as many books as I once did but I still buy them.
7. Food. This is certainly a necessity though I could skip a few meals. LOL We have cut back on eating out. I’ve been cooking more and we eat more leftovers than we used to. It reminds me of growing up. We rarely ate out and my mom had dishes she made from leftovers. Mashed potatoes were turned into potato cakes. Veggies and meats were used in soups and stews.
8. Shopping! I used to see something I thought was cute and buy it regardless of need. Now, I think, do I really need it?
9. Cell Phones! Truly, I can do without mine. I rarely use it but my DH and daughter use theirs all the time. My daughter has unlimited texting and that is what she uses the most. I have cut the minutes back a bit. I think I saved ten dollars a month. Yippee!
10. I make sure all my bills are paid on time so we don’t get extra charges.
11. I don’t use credit cards. If I don’t have the money, I don’t buy it. (I do use debit cards and Paypal).
12. I get money off my debit card at my bank only. I don’t want those extra bank charges.
13. I haven’t planned a big vacation for next year. I do have a couple of conferences I plan to attend and we’ll see from there. I’m sure we’ll do something but it might be something close to home.

TT #53

Today’s TT was inspired by a three-day power outage. The remnants of Ike blew through Kentucky on Sunday causing massive power outages and much damage to trees and roofs.

What did I discover during my three-day blackout? What did I miss?

1. I am addicted to the Internet. I thought I’d go crazy.
2. Candlelight is only romantic for about an hour then it sucks.
3. It’s difficult to read by candlelight.
4. I would never make it as a writer if I had to use pen and paper.
5. It wasn’t extremely warm but I missed my AC and ceiling fans.
6. Moonlight is a wonderful thing.
7. A house without power is extremely quiet.
8. The power went out before the Nascar race last Sunday so I listened to it on the radio. I don’t like listening to sporting events.
9. When the power go out people quickly buy up all the ice. It took my husband hours to find ice. I have to have cold Mountain Dew.
10. My dh is addicted to TV and without it he gets nasty.
11. My daughter wanted to live at Panera Bread where there was a WiFi connection and a place to charge her cell. I am not fond of crowds and quickly checked my emails and left to her dismay.
12. When there is no light my body quickly decides it’s bedtime, even if it’s only 8:30pm.
13. Fast food is wonderful as a treat. Eating it two times a day for several days is nauseating.

Thankfully, my power came back yesterday afternoon and I feel human again.

Aftermath of Ike

Hey,
The aftermath of Ike roared through Kentucky and made a huge mess. I'm without power and it looks like it may be out for 7-14 days! Yikes!

I'm at my sister's house right now and I'll do my best to check email when I can. My Insight email address laday @ insightbb.com is out because our cable system is out. Don't know when I'll be able to access that account.

If you need to reach me email:

Fall TV Season

September is around the corner which means the 2008 TV season begins! I’m still sad that Moonlight will not return but I’m looking forward to new episodes of Criminal Minds, Bones & CSI. Unfortunately, I believe CSI is losing Warrick on the first episode and I heard Gil is leaving too. I’m not sure if I’ll continue watching after they both exit.

I haven’t looked into many of the new shows but The Ex List and Eleventh Hour look interesting.

What shows are you all looking forward to seeing?

What new shows look interesting?

Lost Boys

I rented and watched Lost Boys, The Tribe, tonight. I enjoyed it. I’m a huge fan of the original, The Lost Boys. This one wasn’t as good but I still liked it. Corey Feldman is in this one too. Also, Angus Sutherland is the lead vampire. For those of you that remember The Lost Boys with Keifer Sutherland, Angus is his younger brother.

Reading is my passion!

If you set aside my passion for my family and my passion for writing, you have my passion for reading. I can’t remember how old I was when I discovered my passion for reading but it’s safe to say it was my first passion. I remember sneaking off with my mother’s romance novels and reading them. This was in the early 1970’s so they were mild. However, when my mother found out she wasn’t pleased. I’d have to say though that those early romance set me on the course I live today.

In my teens, I began reading Harlequin type books and then I discovered historicals. As long as it’s romance, I’ll read it. Although, these days I prefer paranormal and sci-fi erotic romance, I still read the occasional Harlequin.

My favorite author of all-times is Diana Palmer. I love her Long, Tall, Texan Series. I own almost all of her books and I often reread them.

Reading is my passion and it has gotten my through some rough times in my life. I can only hope that my stories have as profound affect on someone as books have had on my life.

Whatever passion inspires you enjoy it, live it.

Have a great weekend. I plan to enjoy a new book and a few old ones too.

TT 51

The Kentucky State Fair is in town and I thought I'd post about the things I enjoy at the fair.

1. People watching. Sitting around watching people can be very entertaining.
2. The music tents. Some of the performers are awesome.
3. The huge sow and the baby pigs. I love the baby pigs.
4. Petting the bunnies. Their fur is so soft.
5. Cool hand-made jewelry
6. The native crafts
7. The rides
8. Playing the games. You know they cheat but you can't stop playing.
9. The food-Elephant Ears
10. Corn on the cob cooked in the husk with tons of butter
11. Watching my hubby glare at the boys eyeing our daughter. (20 years ago he used to glare at them watching me. Where did the time go?)
12. Horse shows. I like the miniature horse shows.
13. Finding your car after a long, hot day and sitting down in the air conditioner. Your feet hurt, your shoes are sticky, you're hotter than hell. You had fun.

TT #50

I spent most of last week in Chicago with my family. Two days were spent on Michigan Avenue shopping with my daughter and niece. Below is a list of some of the shops we visited.

1. Guess
2. Bebe
3. Coach
4. Macy's
5. Saks
6. Gap
7. Banana Republic
8. Abercrombie & Fitch
9. Aeropostale
10. Chicago Cubs Clubhouse Shop
11. Forever 21
12. Hollister
13. Sephora

I couldn't list them all so this is just a selection of some of the shops I remember. They have a wonderful time and are currently planning how they can live in a Chicago highrise overlooking Michigan Ave or Lake Michigan. I told them they had to go to college and find a very high paying career. Maybe, it will be insentive to do well in high school.

Back from Chicago

Morning, all,
Just got back from a week in Chicago and I’m glad to be home. Don’t get me wrong, I love the city but I was ready for the quiet life again. We took my almost fourteen y/o daughter and my fifteen y/o niece with us and they had a blast. They absolutely loved Michigan Ave. What teenage girl doesn’t want to shop all day? We had plans to go to zoos, museums, the aquarium but they just wanted to shop. We did manage to go to The Hancock Observatory and Navy Pier. The view was fabulous.

My dh is from the suburbs of Chicago so I’ve been in Chicago before so we left this trip up to the girls. They thoroughly enjoyed the trip and so did we. My dh didn’t complain once about all the shopping. He’s so sweet!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

TT #48

Yesterday was my anniversary. So today, I thought I’d list 13 things I’ve learned about men over the years. Some I’ve learned from my husband and some from all the men in my life.

1. GPS is the most awesome invention. Now we don’t have to ride around lost for hours.
2. Men do not Bitch. They cuss, swear, argue or fight but they do not bitch. So don’t tell them to quit bitching.
3. A ‘Love Injection’ can cure anything. I have been told that there is much evidence to back this up but I haven’t seen it myself.
4. Men think slapping your ass or pinching you is foreplay –sad but true.
5. Straight men think it is more natural for women to be lesbians than for men to be gay.
6. Within 2 minutes, a man can turn any conversation into a conversation about sex.
7. As men age, they lose the hair on their head and grow it everywhere else.
8. Most men enjoy playing with sex toys as long as they are not being replaced by one.
9. Men will watch sappy love stories if they think it will lead to sex.
10. When reading erotic romances, men skip through and only read the ‘good parts’. (sex & violence)
11. Men only know primary colors. They do not wear lilac, sea foam, teal, aqua etc.
12. If you are both sick, they are sicker. You have never been as sick as they are.
13. Men do not show weakness in front of other men. If they smash their thumb with a hammer or cut themselves on a piece of pipe they will say they are fine as finger, toe, limb, etc is still attached. They will not bitch about it until they get hoe. (Oops-I meant they won’t cuss about it. See #2.)

TT # 47

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I rented The Bucket List this week. It was awesome and in honor of it, I thought I'd make a bucket list of 13 things I'd like to do or see.

1. Become a grandmother (many years down the road, of course)
2. visit Austrailia
3. visit Greece
4. visit Italy
5. attend a PowWow
6. become a best selling author (I dream big)
7. See my daughter graduate from college
8. Go back to college
9. find a diet I can stick with
10. lose weight
11. become more technically inclined when it comes to computers and software
12. go white-water rafting
13. have a month to myself to relax, read and enjoy

I'm sure I've left off many things but the above list is some of the things I'd enjoy. What would be on your list?

The Bucket List

We got a chance to watch it this evening and I loved it. Parts of it were sad and hit close to home but it still had us laughing out loud. I'm not a huge fan of comedy but this one is awesome.

10,000 BC

Seems like I’ve been everywhere but home lately. I spent a week on vacation then returned to a sick MIL. She lives in the Chicago area so we spent the long weekend at her house. Thankfully, she is out of the hospital and hopefully on the road to recovery.

With all of the driving we’ve done in the last few weeks, I’m exhausted and way behind on my writing. Last night though, we took a little time to relax and rented 10,000 BC. It wasn’t a great movie but it wasn’t bad and Steven Strait as D’Leh was very hot in a caveman kind of way. My daughter loved the movie and my husband did manage to stay awake so it couldn’t be too bad.

We also rented The Bucket List, we plan to watch it tonight.
